“The benefits of the UVG have been almost immeasurable. Straight out cost saving financial benefits are huge.”
Dave Goodwin, Sussex Inlet Vet Clinic, Sussex Inlet
“In the first 12 months with the UVG we saved $12500 for a $2000 outlay considering our drug bills were going up 5% a year due to inflation. To me the UVG has been the best single business decision I have made over the 7 years running my practice.”
Jeannet Kessels, Springfield District Vet Clinic, Brisbane
“I was very loyal to the drug company I was using previously, but joining the UVG is one of the best decisions I have made, not only for savings but the teleconferences and annual conferences are tremendous.”
Amanda Gough, Riverbank Animal Hospital, South Grafton
“Over the past 2 years our business has grown exponentially, we have grown exponentially as people and we owe so much of it purely to the UVG. If you’re debating if you should join or not, give it the one month trial. We did and we have never looked back since.”
Stephanie Wright, Murwillumbah Vet Clinic, Murwillumbah
“It’s been fantastic. I have learnt so much, particularly about practice management. It’s great to meet like minded people who want to do a fantastic job in this profession and earn a decent living. I recommend everyone join the UVG, it’s well worth it.”
Kathy Webb, Fitzroy County Vet Clinic, Nanango
“Apart from the great wholesaler discounting, it has opened up the world for me because I’m isolated on my own. The UVG means that I have people to connect with. It has created a great network and more support.”
“At first I was concerned at spending money and not getting good results on that amount of investment, but what I found was the best thing was that I met people that can accelerate my learning and make some significant changes to make my business profitable.”
Liz O’Conner, Avoca Drive Animal Hospital
“As a one man vet clinic for 21 years, it was a very easy decision to join the UVG. Up front, the initial allure was discounts, savings and immediate benefits. As time went on, the supplier and outside suppliers deals were added—also very helpful. But as time has passed the “bigger picture” assistance with practice problems has been the main benefit. To get the ongoing varied and extremely useful information from so many sources and at such a great price, is now proving to be the real benefit. Simply put, mad if you don’t get involved.”
Brad Sultmann, Marcoola Vet Surgery
“We have been members of the UVG since its inception in 2006. In the 09/10 tax year we received $14,663.76 just in rebates from manufacturers. For the 10/11 tax year we are on track to receive substantially more. As you can see the tangible benefits of being a UVG member speak for themselves. However we find the intangible benefits of the UVG are equally beneficial.”
Tim Hill and Andrew Marland, Vet Cross Bundaberg
“We have been in the UVG for 2 years – joined May 2008. Comparing gross takings financial years to date: July 2007 – April 2008 to July 2009 – April 2010 we have seen an increase in turnover of 35.5% over these 2 years. These figures are accurate. I can attribute this growth to us applying the techniques that we have learnt through being in the UVG.”
Chris Gough, Riverbank Animal Hospital
“Thanks for a great conference last weekend, just what I needed. After 21 years in the same practice on my own you find that you get your systems pretty well set up, you know your clients well and things run smoothly as a rule. But you do get a little jaded, maybe lose your edge a bit, and every now and then need to be reminded of a few things that you have forgotten or tend to ignore (things that you know you know, but you don’t know that you forgot them). A good kick in the backside is what was needed, and it was delivered over the weekend – by the speakers and the other delegates. I also discovered (and am quite grateful for this little reminder too) that there are a lot of vets with much bigger problems than I have ever had or been concerned about. It was nice to be able offer some help to them during the mastermind session. I am now looking forward to reaping the benefits of putting into action everything that I have learned/relearned. Thanks again for organising the weekend..”
Brad Sultmann, Marcoola Vet Surgery
“I deliberated carefully for 6 weeks before making the decision to join the UVG. It was a difficult and important decision. It has turned out to be probably the most useful choice I have made, not only in terms of rebates, but more importantly support, mentoring and guidance in running my business. I would be most happy for those considering joining the UVG to email me on j.kessels@live.com.au or to call me on 07 3288 1574.”
Jeanette Kessels, Springfield Vet Clinic
“As owners of the Kuraby Veterinary Surgery since only July 2006 we have found being a member of the UVG to have been invaluable. It has enabled us to be part of a group of vets in a similar business position to ourselves as well as the fantastic monetary benefits. These benefits have included substantial savings on our wholesaler bill, discount web page setup and maintenance, a discount for quality newsletter production and postage, direct drug company rebates/bonuses and pathology rebates, with Sam having more savings to come in 2008!!! Although we have not totalled it up we are saving at least $1000 per month on drugs alone!”
Emma Simon and Nicole Hutchinson, Kuraby Vet Surgery
“I really admire your vision for the industry and being part of your organisation is a great help and not just financially. “
Alison Bee, Magnetic Island Vet
“I run a 3 person mixed practice in a small country town in Northern NSW. We have been members of the UVG only since August 2007 so it’s hard to gauge our savings so far but I have noticed increased bargaining power with all the drug companies and wholesalers. We have also started setting up a web page with a company recommended by the UVG which offered us great savings. The main advantage though is to be part of a team of likeminded vets who can offer you ideas and tips which can make a huge difference to practice management and morale. Working together makes far more sense than competing!!!”
Stephanie, Murwillumbah Vet Clinic
“I have saved in excess of $60,000 this year alone by being a UVG member. I can’t believe anyone decides NOT to join. Whether to join or not is a no brainer as far as I am concerned.”
Mike Powell, Anvet Beenleigh
“We Joined UVG last year after discussions with Sam Bowden at a weekend getaway and reunion with some old friends. I had known Sam from our university days and he laid out his plans for the UVG with much enthusiasm and explained how we may benefit as a united group of practitioners. I saw this as a new approach with merit for future savings and profitability for my practice. In addition, the idea of numerous practice owners sharing ideas and protocols used within their own businesses to help improve others was very interesting and inspiring.
We subsequently joined The UVG in August 2007 and have been changing our approach and improving our profitability since.
We have already seen increases in profit by introducing some of the protocols supplied by the UVG and we are also seeing considerable savings on our monthly drug bills. Added bonuses are some of the extra rebates we have received through the UVG.
The team at Lyppards in QLD have also been very professional in helping make the change from our previous supplier and we have found them easy to deal with and always very helpful. Our estimated savings on drug bills alone probably amount to between $500-700 per month.
I was particularly inspired by Sam’s enthusiasm and passion to see our profession reward itself with better remuneration through improved inter-practice communication. This in turn, allowing better levels of patient care, as well as improving ways of reducing our overall costs.
Thus far, as an owner of a relatively small country practice, I have been very satisfied with the rewards I have received in being a member of the group.”
Michael Featherstone, Blue & White Veterinary Clinic, Coffs Harbour
“I thought what Sam promised was, “too good to be true” and I was naturally sceptical. I also struggled with the idea of leaving my current wholesaler and breaking loyalty. Sadly I didn’t realise that “loyalty” was costing me $12,000 a year in higher drug costs. Sam promised to save us money on our drug bill and we saved $12,000 in our first year. One small part of the savings covers our monthly membership straight away.
On top of all of that, I get fantastic monthly marketing, sales and business building ideas, which are invaluable for a practice like mine.
To join the UVG is a no brainer. It is THE BEST business decision I have made.”
Michael Featherstone, Blue & White Veterinary Clinic, Coffs Harbour
“You have nothing to lose with the UVG…and everything to gain.”
Kathy Sneddon, Petersham Vet Hospital Practice Manager
“I hate to think how much money I have wasted by not joining with the UVG 2 years ago. I thought it would only save me hundreds. I didn’t realise that it would save me thousands. Maybe this will help others in deciding to join sooner rather than later.”
Sophie Colona, Calamvale Vet Clinic
